For a while now we have been in contact with MedTech Outreach Australia, an organisation based in Australia that is involved in telemedicine with developing countries. They are the developers of the Medgnosis Telemedicine platform - a web based application similar to iPath. This week, Fred Hersch who is the main developer of Medgnosis has visited us in Basel and we decided to join forces and start developing a common telemedicine platform based on iPath-2.

State Medicaid to cover telemedicine

One of the last obstacles preventing a more widespread application of telemedicine seems to be vanishing. Patients – particularly in rural areas – may have more access to medical specialists after Indiana announced Monday that its Medicaid program will begin covering telemedicine - full story.
LT Telepatologija - Lithuania

LT TELEPATOLOGIJA is a regional network of pathologists and other medical specialists in the Baltics using iPath platform for clinico-pathological case discussion, consultation and continuing medical education. The main discussion group Lithuanian pathology online is active since December of 2005.
The network is planning to create an architecture of discussion groups when at first case is discussed in lithuanian in the closed CME group LT Patologijos pavasaris (pathology spring) or other, after IH stains and with preliminary diagnosis the case is moving to international group lithuanian pathology on line collaborating with international team of pathologists. At the end the case may be sent to external consultants if the final diagnosis cannot be reached by telepathology way.
